final creative writing piece

  • There is a malevolent goddess
  • The world is the body of a primordial chaos
  • Mountains are spines on the chaos’ surface
  • Lava is the blood of the chaos
  • Lava is not just fire, it can also be electric, acid or frost
  • The seasons are seemingly random in length as the turbulent blood flows through the chaos
  • There are no volcanoes in the beginning

Once there was chaos, the chaos encompassed all that existed, eventually it created a being out of itself, itself personified, eventually the spawn that came from the personification of chaos decided to rise up against their creator. killing the personification of chaos, sculpting it into what they wished. The group of spawn became known as gods, the gods created their own spawn but they were lesser than the gods. the gods called them humans. The humans were banished to the chaos’s surface while the gods remained within the chaos keeping the chaos, their home alive but there was one god who sought to trick the humans. Causing them pain for his amusement

The god went to the surface in the form of a human saying they could create a liquid from the mountains themselves. The humans asked for proof and the god released the blood from the chaos. It bubbled and cracked with sparks of fire and lightning, freezing itself before melting again, corroding the very ground it passes. Melting into a great hole as soon as it reaches the softer dirt at the base of the mountain, the humans sought to gain the power of the great orange and red flames using wood to capture some of it, they learnt to create it. using the earth to create part of it’s blood. Using it to cook food, remove pests from crops, heat tools and create weapons, the humans praised the god as a great mage asking for help to channel the rest of the elements from the liquid. The god refused saying that the humans were too weak at their current stage to channel the elements, the god then retreated back to their home releasing another spire of the chaos’s blood among the humans which destroyed half of the village the humans lived in.

The constant turmoil then ushered the humans to make their technology better to repel such attacks from the world they lived on itself. The blood of the chaos would eventually stop flowing from the gaping wounds in the chaos’s spines which eventually were relegated to pits of the liquid, forever trapped due to the walls inside the spines being tougher than the soft earth around the spines that were made to contain this elemental liquid that kept the world alive and determined the seasons that happened on the surface world.

Every few years to a few decades a large amount of the blood forces itself out of one of the spines usually causing great damage to those around the spine they erupt from. Yet the humans powered through the unrelenting chaos that was their world and continued to advance into a highly technological state where they could predict when these eruptions as they were called by the humans were to happen and prepare for them, sometimes years in advance, eventually they could prevent the eruptions in their entirety.
