butterflies

Butterflies by Patricia Grace questions

  • what type of language is used in the story
  • broken grammar and the grandparents use short sharp sentences
  • what is this text about? how do you know?
  • it's about different perspectives because people have different experiences and so see things differently
  • what does the author want us to know
  • the author wants us to know that everyone has different perspectives for basically anything in life
  • how are characters constructed in this text
  • the grandparents are constructed to be the people who grew up in war and so couldn't get a proper education so they speak sharply and quickly and seem to be un-able to read English, the grand daughter seems to be the person who was made to introduce the idea of differing perspectives and the teacher is the person to show one side on the butterflies topic
  • what kind of social realities does the text portray
  • it shows the reality that people can disagree on things as small as I 100 percent like this thing to I 99 percent like this thing or I 100 percent like this thing to I 100 percent dislike this thing and how butterflies are one of those topics
