blogging home ec

one of our recent practicals was a pizza with a three ingredient base this fits into our history of food culture as when some of the settlers came they brought a pizza recipe with them which has now become a staple of takeouts in NZ

one of the processes used in this recipe was the dough making which was key for the pizza to be light and soft, this involved lots of mixing and kneading to make sure the dough is the right consistency and isn't too sticky.

this differed from the takeout version as the bases are usually harder but they are generally larger which could be the reason for the hardness we also had less fat in it as we didn't use butter as part of the dough this showed me that you don't only have one recipe for pizza dough and i could use this in the future if i ever make pizza's at home for dinner.

students being addicted to their phones

Many students are addicted to their phones and it may or may not cause problems it depends on how much the student uses their phone. If it’s rarely then there’s no real issue but if it’s common that the student is on their phone without permission then it’s a problem. About 50% of young people are addicted to their phones. Many students completely disregard teachers instructions and instead use their phone for their own amusement using things like games, social media, and messaging apps. This could be taken as the students not wanting to learn but it could be blamed to many adults saying for kids to keep in touch with friends and the addictive nature of some games like Candy crush. There are other reasons for students to be ‘addicted’ to their phones like they are expecting a text or message from a family member or are worried about someone who’s in the hospital. This can be interpreted as being on your phones can be both negative and positive in some cases it distracts us from the task at hand, and in others it helps us communicate and sometimes focus on learning.

technology

Definition of technology: Technology is the creative process that utilises tools, resources and systems to solve problems. It also enhances control over natural and man made environments to improve our lives

We did this to show how technology has changed over time and we used examples of old things and compared it to the newer version

curiously, Joel somehow got a British accent

while the students were writing, Mrs Handley was shuffling sticks

deciding to do the work, Jessie quickly typed

commited to working, Violet studied hard

colour, music and setting are all integral for a good movie

natural, earthy and faded could be used to describe the colour palette of District 12

interestingly, Gary Ross's 'The Hunger Games' managed to show emotional weight using very little music

in the Capitol, colour is used to engage the viewer by showing the futuristic, metallic and technological landscape, this shows us that not everyone is in the same poverty as those in District 12.

costume is used effectively in the capitol to engage the viewer in the theme of rich vs poor as the costumes in the capitol are juxtaposed to those of District 12, whilst District 12 has dull, faded and over-worn clothes  the Capitol has bright vibrant colours like reds, blues and yellows.

workshop 5

i have this in the order because i think it fits my strengths
