So far I have learnt that new Zealand food culture is heavily inspired by other cultures, I know I've learnt this due to the fact that I can see where New Zealand has taken inspiration form other countries food culture for example there's lots of sushi and Japanese places and we now sometimes can get salmon to cut yourself. Practicals I've made this term are, Fish&Chips, Pizza, Pad Thai, Nachos, and a few others I can't remember. They are originally from England Italy Thailand and mexico respectively but they've made it to NZ through immigration and settlers. Skills I've learnt from these practicals are better teamwork, organisational skills and speediness when grabbing ingredients, and I will use these skills in the future to increase productivity while doing practicals. Working with the other people in my group has been both good and a struggle sometimes due to us not always seeing eye to eye in terms of flavours or spice.
